Per Toledo law enforcement, the driver Jason Greenwade sped out of a gas station and took police on a wild car chase. Greenwade then proceeded to travel north on the southbound lanes of the highway. We have witnessed lots of out of control chases that have led to auto accidents but this one is a bit over the top. We know how to fight to get you financially compensated.
While Toledo has had our fair share of high-speed chases, it’s not the main reason for this article. Our roads are already dangerous. As we begin the holiday season our streets and highways are only going to get more treacherous. So today, we’re going to tackle things you can do if you’re injured in an accident over the holidays.
Dealing with Dangerous Roads and the Holiday Season
Dealing with dangerous roads and the holiday season can be tricky. Especially here in Toledo, where winter weather can get brutal. The holiday season brings with it time for family, and time for drama. While we hope that everyone gets to enjoy a special time with loved ones, too often the holidays bring tragedy. Office parties, people using alcohol to numb out from financial stress to family fighting can cause all sorts of issues. Due to this, auto accidents tend to rise in Toledo during the winter months.
Over-intoxicated drivers and even drivers distracted by rushing around can create lots of traffic and crashes. Add in icy roads and slippery conditions and presto, you’ve got a recipe for car crash madness. If you end up in an auto accident this holiday season we can help. While some injury firms in Toledo handle all types of accident cases, we try to focus on vehicle-related injuries. Let’s take a minute to discuss ways you can try and keep safe this winter while driving in Toledo.
Never Drink and Drive
The first obvious thing you can do to avoid auto accidents is to never drink and drive. Yes, the holidays are fun. So keep them that way. Do not get behind the wheel after drinking. Period. If you’re at an office party, make sure your coworkers do not drink and drive either. There is Uber, Lyft, and other rideshare options. You don’t need to risk getting hurt or hurting another.
Likewise, if you end up being hit by a drunk driver, we can help. Our law firm has won well over one hundred million dollars for accident victims. Daryl Rubin is also a leading Toledo Uber Accident Injury Attorney and a Lyft Accident Injury Lawyer. The Ohio Highway Patrol confirmed that 15 people were killed on Ohio roadways over Thanksgiving. Many crashes were caused by drunk drivers. Don’t be the problem, be the solution.
Make Sure Your Car Is in Working Order
Your car’s battery and other electrical equipment can short out in cold temperatures. It may be a good idea to get a tune-up, check your oil, heck even make sure you have a full tank of gas prior to a winter storm rolling in. We’ve handled cases before victims were injured because the driver at fault care simply failed and the driver lost control.
Check to See if Your Snow Chains Still Work
Winter is harsh here in Toledo. We often have freezing temperatures and black ice on our roads. Before you venture out this holiday season, check to see if your snow chains still work. You and your family will be thankful you have chains in case a storm catches you by surprise. Last January, the Toledo Blade reported all sorts of vehicle crashes due to icy conditions. So double-check your vehicle’s tires and make sure your snow chains are in working order.
